INTERBIKE 2012 RR
Day one indoors. I saw stuff....I did things. Here's some random shots of craps that caught my eye. Sorry for lack of details. But I'm kinda worn from walking, and I took a couple vicodin thinking they were ibuprofen.

INTERBIKE 2012 RR :: Comments
Re: INTERBIKE 2012 RR
Interbike and Outdoor Demo are dealer events that honestly wouldn't really appeal to the general public, I think.
I thought that our booth was the only one closed to lookie-loos at Interbike, but I saw quite a few other booths there were closed off and they were only letting appointments in.
Jeremy's take on it was that it's was just too much going on to really take it all in. I think both Jeremy and Wendi found that most folks at the booths weren't really interested in talking to them it was known they weren't dealers, weren't planning on buying, or didn't have an appointment.
I saw a picture on Facebook of a sticker that said "Interbike isn't about scoring free shit!" Haha. And it really isn't. It's supposed to be where companies get retailers to write their pre-season orders for 2013, but the free shit is to entice dealers to visit your booth or make an appointment.
I have to say being at Interbike as an exhibitor is exhausting and I barely got to walk around. But when I did, it was cool getting to meet people face-to-face that I'd only ever talked to on the phone or corresponded with via email. I ended up losing my voice after the week and my knees/feet were aching. IB seemed like it was much more fun as a dealer/distributor than an exhibitor.

Oh and thanks to grenader for hooking it up with the Mammoth lift passes for Saturday! It was almost a throw-away day for me being that we'd gotten in to Mammoth close to 3:00am and I hadn't slept before 2am each day of Interbike, but I did finally conquer the two rock gardens on Chainsmoke! w00t-sauce!
Doing a more professional writeup for the News section, but here are some pictures that probably won't make the cut.
Stopped by Gayper's restaurant
JD high on PBR
Cap'n gets a private show
Cap'n gets a preview
Nice six pack!
Cruising
Warm night
What up?

Now you can try the one at the beginning of Bullet.badkittyjing wrote:Oh and thanks to grenader for hooking it up with the Mammoth lift passes for Saturday! I went as a representative of SDMBA and Tara said it exactly right. Although it was cool to walk around and visit booths of the manufacturers, I didn't see anything really new, and no one wanted to talk to me about funding a bike skills park in SD, so it was kind of a waste in that respect. I did manage to win a pair of pedals and shoes from Shimano and I got Greg Minnaar's autograph. Those were the highlights. This show is definitely not for public consumption. I honestly think the bike industry should think about having a show geared towards the consumer like CES. Bling the crap out of the new bikes and go to score free shit! LOL.
I was so disappointed to see it was just a banana. But the dance more than made up for it.

The Outdoor was hot with long waits to get a bike and then another long wait to get a shuttle. 5 times as many rodaies as anyone else....followed by single speed posers.
The indoor was a mix of lycra, mustached tight black jeans and bros...all talking about their "sick" fixie, bmx, 650b or carbon DH bikes...and why they are better than the identical bike in the booth right next to them.
Ohhhh!!! the best part was the Costco like atmosphere with all the free energy/ supplement food/ drink samples...it's all glorified candy...disguised to make even the stupidest...I mean "healthiest" of spandexers feel smug about eating this junk.
Don't waste your time with this event....go ride instead...all of this copy cat crap is already on the market and the show is filled with people who like to talk about bikes or bike stuff rather than actually ride...you know these bike geeks.... the people who would rather work on their bike or talk about bikes instead of ride.....yup the opinionated ones that can hardly ride on a bike path....let alone ride down a dirt hill. You wanna see interbike...go to the Performance Bike shop or any Sports Chalet bike section.

The indoor side of things did seem like a big fart huffing convention, but what about all the free beer? All this stuff was substantially better with a good buzz.
