2012 Interbike Indoor Show

After a night of debauchery in Vegas, Gravity Pirates stopped by the Sands Convention Center to check out the latest offerings in the cycling world. It seemed like tens of thousands were attending the show (in fact, the actual number was 25,536). Some VIPs were signing posters like Greg Minnaar, Steve Peat, Kristin Armstrong (Gold Olympics medal winner). We rain into Aaron Gwin and his crew having lunch before doing his shtick at the show. Trek skipped the Indoor Show as well as the Outdoor Demo, but managed to stick Gwin’s new carbon Session into the glass case at the entrance.



In random order, we walked around and talked to various vendors. JD lifting a blinged out carbon Santa Cruz V-10 with carbon Enve wheelset.



Peaty’s and Minnaar’s World Championship bikes. I liked seeing Minnaar’s bike all dirty and muddy (Cap’n prefered that they cleaned it first).



MRP had chainguides with useful features like skidplates and ability to install without taking the chain off. MRP also had versions with a carbon backplate.



Five Ten guy was really proud of a new shoe called Freerider Vxi. Supposedly gripper and lighter at the same time with more protection.

FSA Gravity was trying to re-establish themselves in the gravity scene and was eager to talk to us.



Go-Pro had a nice booth with 3D videos and their sponsored Porsche.



Kuat had some nice racks. This one that JD was checking out had a bike stand built in. We both thought that their racks are nicer than Thule’s.

We stopped by Specialized. Lots of carbon.



After few hours, JD’s knee was hurting, my ankle was swelling up to the size of a football, and Cap’n was ready for his 4pm lunch. So we called it a day.
