GCI, Pump track build, Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego
As you probably already know GCI (Gravity Cycling Inc.) Is the non-profit organization created by Cap'n to (legally) deal with and organize the numerous cycling projects that he already had in the works as well as in the future. The public relations arm of Gravity Pirates if you will.
I'm working with Cap'n and GCI on the San Diego area build projects. Currently we're working on 2 projects. The Valley Center City Bike Park as well as a privately funded project.
While the Valley Center project is approved, and moving forward there will still be some time before we can break ground. In the mean time we need to finish up the private build project.
The private build project is located in Rancho Santa Fe. This project will be a GCI flagship build with a pump track, and flow lines all built on private property.
We're 1 week into this build. We've already moved most of the 25 truck loads of dirt into general areas, and I have roughly 75% of the pump track laid out and berms roughed in.
I'm looking for some help finishing the pump track ASAP. if you're into pump tracks, want to be, or just feel like helping us out, we'd really appreciate the help speeding this project up. No specific pump track building experience needed.
I'll be out there next Tuesday and Thursday, May 6 & 8.
Thanks!

love2wheels wrote:Hey Cameron. You building on the weekends?
Yes I am. I'll be our there on Sunday if anyone can make it.
I was a little leary of posting that up since the GP Park dig is this weekend, but yes ill be on the clock every weekend till the projects complete.
Too many digs going on. What a great problem to have.
Not every rider in this group is a big contributor. But more big contributor's are here than anywhere else. And that's the whole point. So wear that green and black proudly! Continue to stay at least 1000 yards from school zones. And always check in with your parole officer on time.

Update:
I have the track layed out, berms (mostly) built, and a handful of the bumps have taken shape. Everything needs some more dirt thrown on, and a little more shaping. I hope to be tamping and possibly riding soon.
I'll be out there working tomorrow (thursday), and Friday. Saturday a few pirates are coming out to checkout the project and work for a few hours in the afternoon. You're all invited to join us for some dirt fun and a Bbq.
With enough help we could be riding by the end of the day...

A big thank you to those that showed up today. We didn't finish the track, but made some major headway.

Design looked good Cam. Cant wait to try it out!
Sorry I have been off two wheeled Wagon for a while. Got caught up building my backyard track. Cap'n you have done SO much for riders! I will be up in VC Saturday for the bike park. Catching up reading a lot of posts, I feel like a tool for not getting more involved, I know how hard it is to get help digging. For the last year I have been moving dirt mostly by myself. I am over 150 yds.of dirt in my backyard now. Building a massive wood berm that connects to a 8 foot tall starting platform. Hope to get some Pirates rolling it with me...MagicMac. ... you were here at the beginning, thanks for that.

That's a lot of dirt to move on your own, good job. I'd love to see your backyard track.
With the recent upswing in local pumptrack builds, there's going to be a handful of really good spots to ride. We're (GCI) currently building 2 p tracks, have another scheduled, and have plans to revamp and expand an already stellar track.
The plan is to create and expand the pump track community in so cal and beyond. I'd like to gather a group riders, builders, and proponents to meet and ride regularly.
