New Guy, Based in Venice
So, mateys, here is my story-
My name is Ben. I have not been out to dig yet. I just recently moved to LA and have been trying to explore what is available for riding big bikes in the area. I was up in Big Bear this past weekend and got a tip from a guy at a bike shop about some singletrack that apparently people were building for DH bikes off of the P Trail. I was driving up and down this really rocky fire road looking for the entrance to the trail so I could hike it in and see if anything was going on and was having trouble finding it so I approached some folks in a Jeep parked on the side of the road to ask for help. Turns out that one of them was Erica (pink payroll), a member of Gravity Pirates. She told me about what you guys were doing and said that I should get signed up. It sounded like just what I need so I emailed Steve this very story and now here I am. I'd love to get out and dig and ride. Like I said, I'm based in LA (Venice) but I have no problem driving to get saddle time. Anyway, give me a shout! 603-534-2282. Thanks!

Hey bro I bring my big bike to Venice and roll from Santa Monica to Venice in the mornings like the rest of the freaks.
I work downtown. I don't know of any areas that require your toil in that area. What bike you ride, post pics of your skills! There are trails for you within one hour drive from your location.

Hey 2gungho-
Thanks for your response. Would you want to go ride sometime? I have been to a spot called S, and that's about it besides my little Big Bear trip. S was real hot. I ride a Morewood Izimu.
Thanks,
Ben

S...is S in this heat! I will ride it with you when its under 85ยบ.....I live in the valley and there are a few of us around you could ride with.....Actually 420 broke his SX riding the Venice boardwalk....or SM boardwalk.....he is hardcore!
Piss off! The boardwalk is the gnarliest DH around these parts, completely shuttle-able as well!
I did Mt. Wilson last weekend, it was fun, tad too much HAB in the middle. But a long run that is as hard as you make (read: the faster the harder - w/consequence (read: fall off cliff if crash)).

@jdgrimes: Cool man, sounds good. S was pretty much unbearable, even though I got there pretty early. I'd love to ride with you valleyfolk at some point.
@Mintsauce: Did not accomplish that, so I suppose you get to keep your beer. I was trying to hike 'n huck it and I think that may have been the hottest I've ever been.
@420: Mt. Wilson? I'd like to try that too. Let me know if you don't mind company some weekend
@everybody: Not sure what you are talking about with this boardwalk riding business, but it sounds fun...if anybody is going riding this weekend and wouldn't mind if I went along let me know.

I may do a Sunday at 8am Mt. Wilson ride if I can't round up anyone to ride something better. Check out www.shuttle-run.com. Dave is a good guy. Tell him Jay on GP referred you. I will be around this weekend so we should all plan something!
@420: I can't see the link either, but I would be into riding for sure. My number is 603-534-2282.
