Has anyone tried the Rockgardn Landing Zone Knee/Shin and/or Elbow guards? My Fox Launch gear is haggard so I need some new gear and wondering if the Rockgardn gear stays in place or if you have to pull up constantly. I have never had to adjust my Fox Launch knee/shin guards but the elbows stretch over time and now slide a lot. When new their fit imo is unmatched. Does anyone have input on ONLY the Rockgardn LZ gear. This review does not require opinions on the Fox gear thank you.

I only parking lot tested the RGs. Seemed to fit ok. But when I went to buy all new armor last month, I went iXS. They're stuff was just so impressive to me at Sea Otter. I bought helmet, knee shin, ass, goggles, gloves, and body. I bought large elbows. I haven't touched them while riding yet.

Checked em out. They look like they would be very hot and not very breathable. What do you think? Their size charts are weird too. What figure did you use to order? The different numbers point to me needing different sizes on the same leg/arm etc. There is no arm measurement for circumference, only length. In that case the XL would be the way to go but cannot determine if LG or XL would be correct for legs. I e-mailed them for help but not sure how long that will take. What size legs did you get?

iXS leans towards European sizing so I would expect them to be like all the other Euro companies and run a bit snug in width.

Wish I could help on the RG LandingZone but I use the Neo's. Also, the new LZ armor is different then the older in the way it attaches. I think RyanE may have the new stuff.

I am running the older model knee/shins, they fit my legs great, no movement, great protection.....but again, the older model....I think the new model still has the same or similar attachment straps, but they are a different armor mold.

I won a set of IXS knee guards, got the biggest they make but they wouldn't fit over my calves.......858rider has them now and said he digs them, fit him fine.....

You want to get stuff with non-slip coating on the inside if possible. POC has it. New TLD has it. Not sure about Rockgardn. 661 doesn't have it, and require you to cinch it down hard making it uncomfortable, or wear it somewhat loose, making it good for 1st impact only.

We're considering iXS for 2012 sponsor. Do to sizing issues for members in some sponsor materials, I wanted to check myself first. So I bought everything they sell. They shipped it from the alps because of the colors and stuff I wanted wasn't in the US. I plan on doing a review. This is my first weekend at a resort. So real test is underway. But I can tell u now, u want the large in knees and elbows. And if in between sizes in helmets, go up. Quality is very nice. But one stitch line on the gloves is already giving up. And the straps on the legs are longer than I like. But I have skinny legs.

I am trying to get rid of TLD armor worn for 30 minutes with this crap inside. I hate them! Hopefully TLD will issue a credit for them since I cannot return worn items. Worst armor design I have ever tried. I had absolutely no complaints from my Fox before I beat them up and/or put the elbows in the wash too many times and stretched em out. Was just wondering if there are better options. I have tried Rockgardn gloves in the past and they came apart after only a few rides. Kinda makes me question their quality.

Not too sure about the iXS strap design. Gonna need more input or review details.

Rockgardn Landing Zone Knee/Elbow Review Wanted Empty Re: Rockgardn Landing Zone Knee/Elbow Review Wanted

Post by mybikestand Mon Jul 18, 2011 8:21 pm

I did a review on the IXS elbow guards and RockGardn Neo's recently. Both have their pros and cons. The IXS Guards both knee and elbow a light but offer less protection that some other brands....made for skinny euro's...LOL The RG Neo's have been awesome so far. Somebody did comment on that review stating theirs ripped fast but I have had 4 or 5 good spills now and still going strong. But the nature and make up of neoprene means at some point it will give and tear. But you have to look at it for what it is. The RG pads do not have the silicon inside but don't thing its necessary for them as mine are on the tight side and haven't moved at all. The IXS pads do and the way they fit I think they needed the silicon and it worked for them. My 661 race pads had perforated neoprene above the knees and ripped the first LIGHT bail I had and made the useless in a crash . they were great before the crash but not after.

here are the reviews

Troy Lee is going to take these back and "try" to hook me up with something that they think will fit. They are going to swap for the Lopes Signature knee/shin guards and the SE elbow/arm guards. The Lopes guards look sweet but the SE guards kinda look cheesy. Any input?
