Rockgardn Pearl DH helmet

I recently bought a helmet from Rockgardn (the Pearl) and have had a few guys ask about it so I thought now was a good time to post a review. The
first thing that came to my mind when I picked it up was it's light. It also
has TONS of vents, 14 to be exact. It has pearly white finish, black decals and nicely
anodized gold hardware for the visor. The only other color choice is Pearl Black, but it has the same gold hardware and gold decals.
Being that this is SoCal and I ride with a black helmet already, I opted for
white so that it wouldn't be extra hot from sunlight. It also happens to look
bitchin well with the full GPR kit! My first impression riding was at Fontana
during a race. Wow, this helmet can flow some serious air! I never noticed the
inside getting hot, those 14 vents really did their job. I got mine in medium.
It’s comfortable, not too tight, not to loose and it's light. One feature I
especially liked was the visor. Rockgardn really thought the design through.
Helmets traditionally have the visor locking screw under the visor. That’s a
tight spot to get your hand into and it's usually pretty annoying to tighten
the screw. The Pearl has the lock-down screws on the sides of the visor, no
center screw. The side screws keep the visor pretty snug but not locked so
tight that it won't slip in a crash, possibly preventing a visor from snapping.
Where the visor would normally touch the helmet's shell, Rockgardn actually placed
the soft side of velcro on it so it wouldn't scratch up the paint. Nice
attention to detail. The whole liner is removable, but all I could get out were
the cheek pads and the rear part of the main piece. When I was trying to remove
the front, I could only get the sides out, not the part that is directly above
the forehead. So, that’s the downside I have found with this helmet. Maybe the
one I got was just extra tight. I still highly recommend this helmet even with
that minor issue to those looking for quality, lightness, good breathability
and a clean look.

I can say that I have thoroughly tested the Rockgardn Pearl.... kept my head intact from a jump-gone-bad crash at Webb. Don't let the lightness fool you, it does its job and does it pretty well! Absorbed all the impact that woulda cracked my head and knocked all my front teeth out!



I'm on my 2nd Rockgardn Pearl and I trust it'd protect me again should the need arises again

Nice write up. When I smashed my Kali I was going to replace it. I was told to go with the Kali again as the Pearl did not have as nice an interior, not as confortable and was heavier. Well, the Pearl is a tad heavier but the fit is MUCH better then the Kali. Fits my noggin better, better venting and it does not have the stupid ridge along the forehead area like the Kali so there is no pressure point that needs to be squished down. Not to mention it's $100 or so less then the Kali as well.

The other nice thing that some riders wont care about, the Pearl is set up to accept my sound system. Speakers fit perfectly and the wires can be hidden easily.

The one thing about the Pearl that ALMOST turned me off of it, the neck opening is smaller then most helmets so when I first went to try it on I thought it would not fit. The nice part about the smaller opening, it's like sliding year head into a nice tight .... actually it helps it fit/work with a Leatt much better.

Been looking for a white one on sale for quite some time now.

I would have to agree on how good this helmet is. I have worn TLD, 661, and some others. So far, the Pearl has had the best fit (I loved the TLD until I wore the Pearl) and breathes well (I currently own the black version).
Black Pearl looks good with the older GPR Jersey...

Sounds like "The Pearl" is the unofficial helmet of Pirates!!!

Theres probably a gay joke somewhere in there about Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Carribean(sp?), the Pearl and Mike Lord....hmmm
