Been wanting to ride the AK my whole life where do you ride out of (Valdez, Cordova, etc.) I am down can you send me the details. I splitboard all winter and have all my avi gear. I ride Tahoe and Mammoth area mostly.

Can fly SeaTac-Anchorage, not sure about SoCal flights to AK...

Can do heli-boarding in Whistler (5 hrs from here) or fly up to Anchorage and do Alyeska:

I've never done heli, so I'd prefer to check it out up in Whistler (cheapest is ~$900), but would also be open to Alaska as it's a short flight from SeaTac, but will be more $.

My Burton Custom X 158 is a bit battered, so I might get a new board or just run with what I've got. Open to suggestions on powder boards or new All Mountain boards...

From the research I have been doing over the years AK has the cheapest heli skiing per vertical feet. I love Whistler but I would rather heli east of there by Revelstoke or Nelson. There are some nice private heli/snowcat places in the Cascades. I know they are in the middle of no where and a far drive for anyone. Ill do some more research but Valdez has been at the top of my bucket list.

Has far has boards go nothing beats Jones boards or Lib Techs but they are expensive I have been riding a 160 K2 Turbo Wide the past couple of years. They are cheap and great in any conditions with nice camber and good flex to handle the hard stuff and a float like butter in the POW. If we ride AK I am going to grab a 163 Wide Jones.

Rode Baker on the weekend and it's not turning out to be a particularly good snow season. Only had 60" base, minimal pow and was slushy/ icy towards the end of the day. Might be best to save up and plan something for next season if it's better.

I'm still keeping my eyes on the weather, but I just don't see it in the next 6-8 weeks. It'll give me time to get all tooled up for back country riding anyway.

Damn, snow is crap everywhere in the west. Mammoth has and no storms, and is out if water...so no snow making. So much for my trip up there this weekend. Mad

Ya this season has sucked Kirkwood has an 18inch base it has been insane. Think is means I need to spend my money on a Whistler in the summer
