Iron Mountain 11-01-2010
Looking to check this place out on Monday whether my neck is healed or not, will bring bike and camera.
I've never been there but I hear it's rocky so hoping the rain today won't be a problem.
My schedule is flexible but looking to head out after traffic dies down in the morning.
If the neck is all good, maybe ted's after. 8)

1030 am meet at the dirt parking area off of highway 67 one mile north of Scripps Poway parkway. Silver Civic, big black wicked rig piggybacked.

Re: Iron Mountain 11-01-2010
400pm??
If no takers for earlier, I'm down for 4pm. It's getting darker earlier so we can't start too much after 400!
It's a great trail..

the trail is great Sean, there should be no hikers so a bombing run over boulders and deep water bars, requiring all acquired skills and turning techniques.

Re: Iron Mountain 11-01-2010
I did some research as promised Mike, these 2 maps are from mtnbikebill's site:
It will be a 3 mile HAB up the red trail to the summit, I guess the last mile or so will be really hard, but we get to scope out our lines. After we take pics, I'm bringing a couple of energy bars for us and then we can start heading down from 'D' on the map. This will be the nasty fun part.
After we get to the fork at 'C', we will have to decide if what we climbed up is worth descending from that point, or we can head down 'Ellie lane trail' (the blue line).
A mile up Ellie Lane is another descent that's supposedly 19 degrees and chunky. I'm not sure if we will make it that far or not, just doing Iron mountain trail is 3 miles up, then 3 miles down. If we do head down Ellie lane, there are a few illegal trails we could scope out, I'm not sure if any of the other descents down that way are worth it though. I don't think we will need either map, looks pretty simple, but if you wanted you could save them in your phone.
Might get to 80 out there today.
Pretty forking stoked to ride with my buddy Mike, I could hardly sleep.
We could also just do Iron trail and then head over to P mountain.

I'm ready Sean for this ride. I've done it before it's a great techy descent, and the views are cool. Thanks for bringing lunch.

I know you missed the skidmarx group ride so I'm going to bring you some GP stickers, remind me to give them to you.
I'll be in a gold jeep grand cherokee with a green GP sticker on the back window.
