OK, I've decided to start looking for a dual sport, or super moto. Mostly for commuting purposes. I drive 12 miles each way over a canyon pass. So lots of twisties. Not so fun in a Suburban.

the KTM takes alot of maintenance and money (Keeps Taking Money) but it is a sick bike.
You cant take that Honda Trail on the highway

I roll a DR650 cause it's cheap...stupid simple...hearty...and I can sell it for little to no loss. As for the motard pic...ya, they're cool. I'd like to have one. But not in PLACE of an off road worthy dualie. If you can only have one, keep it off-road worthy. Swapping wheels n shit all the time just isn't a realistic option either. When your friends turn off on a muddy fire road you'll be back at the pavement whining. My advice is thus....just get some kind of street legal dirt bike that can comfortably do 70mph...and don't break the bank. Sprinkle in some fun...close calls...and some epic rides...you have yourself a recipe for happiness. Just like DH. Enduro w us?? 154457

I had a street legal 2000 wr400 in the past. I did the LA, Barstow to Vegas dual sport ride once. I definitely want a dirt bike chassis. The motard setup would be most practical, as I would be riding canyon roads 99% of the time, and that one is pretty cheap.

my wr250x supermoto was one of the funnest bikes i've ever owned. it was my third supermoto, they are a kick!

but i do have to say i am really enjoying the more dirt oriented ds i have currently.

cheap to buy, cheap to insure, cheap to modify and tons of fun!

Picked up an xr400 plated and ready to go for $1800! Runs great after cleaning the carb. Easy to find parts too. You can find some good deals out there for cheap.
