2012 US Nationals at Beech Mtn, NC

I really can't give the best report because I did not get to race I'm still hurt.

Friday when we got there the weather was great the dirt was as tacky as it could be. With a bum leg I could not walk to the big rock garden so we stayed around the last rock gap which ended up being a crash zone for the Cat 2's and 3's. The had 4 compound fractures at this gap with in 5 mins of standing there I saw a JR rider completely miss the landing and blow up his shoulder by the time I got to him you could tell he was hurting pretty good but for a 16 year old kid he had no fear for hitting the gap like he did. Not 10 mins later Kapooky a GP member did the same thing except he forgot to let go of the bike I really thought he was going to lose his head to the USA Cycling trailer. By the time he stopped he was under one part of the trailer and his bike was under another part. He messup up his shoulder real good also so was out of the race too.
I did not get to see a lot of the DH racing so this is more of a story than reveiw sorry. I did meet 2 guys that were from CO that were riding Musashi they raced in PRO but they were very cool guys and really loved the Musashi.

Saturday was the DS Pro finals and beer fest. At the beer fest I met Swan,his dad and Chris Canfield ended up hangout with them most of the afternoon all 3 were a lot of fun to hangout with very good people. The DS pro was great lots of people the crowd was great.

I made a real bad but quick video of what I got to see. The people in the beginning are Me and the east coast Mike Fitz the people at the picknic table are uzziman and Kapooky from this site. The one other pic is Swan his dad and Chris at the DS finals the 2 DS vids are the Pro finals.

Was that "pro only"? That course looked awesome. I saw lines for the pros, yet mortals could race it also. Although I can't turn right in the air so the hip jump would put me out. Nice vid.

I saw a Facebook post about him getting taken to the hospital. Not from this right?

Im not sure there was another real bad crash on the same jump.

Yeah that looks like Nick from One Ghost, I heard he crashed pretty bad.

Sorry I didn't make it down dirty, was just too long of a drive & I didn't do a qualy race anyway.

It was a fun track (I only rode the AM course) and great to meet some GP members as well!
