Burbank Lanark jump line or Simi Valley DH shuttle
SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
Looking to ride somewhere close(ish) to Burbank sometime after 4pm & before 8pm. I heard of a playground & short DH run near Stough Canyon at the end of Lanark near Hollywood Way. One of the GP dudes builds up there (with the lifted Chevy Silverado & BFG ATs) Simi Valley would also be good (Animal, Humingbird & Stagecoach). Could also do G-Spot for a session if the mood.

Re: SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
Preston Ridge would just be an AM loop up the fire-road & down the single-track. Might not be such a good idea if this heat-wave continues next week... I heard about a play area near Hollywood Way/ Lanark, but I don't remember the dude's name or screen name. He was riding a pimped out white Commencal DJ/ 4X bike.
Anyway, I can do Preston Ridge, the play area (if I can fin out exactly where this is), Simi Valley or somewhere else if someone suggests it. Simi Valley might be better due to the forecast heat.

lanark is a cool little session spot if you have a hour and don't want to commit to a long ride
if you zoom in on the firebreak that parallels the chandler fire road you can see many of the lines, though this was taken before the veg started to grow back around the lineshttp://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=lanark+st,+sun+valley&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=30.819956,56.337891&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Lanark+St,+Los+Angeles,+California&ll=34.222187,-118.343235&spn=0.00098,0.001719&t=h&z=19

I might scope out this place tomorrow if I can handle the heat. If you want to do some DH runs we could meet at the bottom of Stagecoach, do a run or two there before doing Animal or Humingbird.
Re: SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
where's stagecoach? the lanark looks good, either way i'm down... lmk so i can bring my gear to work and go! i'm new.. so nothing to fancy for me.

Re: SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
Stagecoach is super fun with no push up but it's a short trail. It's pretty fast, lot's of smooth rolling rocks & a few drops. There's lots of different lines on the trail so you can pin it fast or make a more technical line choice.
Top: 7727 - 7799 Lilac Lane (0.2 miles off Santa Susanna Pass)
Bottom: Devonshire & Larwin

Re: SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
mostly dj type stuff, but built for big bikes (longer ski slope style hits w/ bigger gaps) had one dh run that goes from top to bottom but is usually overgrown this time of year that intersects the far left (when going down) jump line

Thanks man! I'll go check it out & hopefully do some digging when it cools down & we get some rain. Never knew this was around the corner from work. What's your name again?

no worries, let me know how it is....... my schedule hasn't allowed me to get up there in a while but a couple bro's say it's held up pretty well. later on, jasonaday wrote:Thanks man! Ok, I'm gonna brave the heat & scope out Jason's play area off Chandler Fire Break today at 4. I'll post back this evening regarding Thu.
Re: SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
sweet! Let us know how it is... Hopefully it's still big bike friendly vs dj bike..

Re: SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
I'm just taking my AM Reign up to check it out. I'm not doing any big jumps or hucks anyway due to my elbow still healing, well, that's my excuse for the next 4 months!
Re: SFV PM shuttle run Thu 09/30
Thanks to Jason (overtheedge) for meeting me up there as I was riding back to the jump area!
OK, here's the scoop...
The jumps are a 10 min hike up a fire road. There are a number of features, including; doubles, drops, hips, booters & berms. There are both small & large features, however it's very dry up there & the surface is loose. It needs some work, but it's rideable for any bike really, but would be best for a short travel DJ bike (Transition Double), medium travel slopestyle bike (Intense SS2) or long travel freeride bike (Iron Horse 7 Point). It's rideable on a big downhill bike, but remember they tend to soak up lots of terrain & can loose speed on approaches to jumps.
There are also some DH lines further up off the fire road with some booters, a fun step up & two doubles. The DH lines are kinda in sections with short climbs in between each section & you can pretty much ride them on any bike.
You can also ride further up the fireroad for exercise & find singletracks that go all over the place. I went down one that Jason said ends at a school in Shadow Hills or Sun Valley.
So, there's something for everyone & as there's a GP shuttle ride in Simi on Sunday I'll vote for the Lanark jumps on Thu.
I'll be there around 4pm on Thursday (09/30) at the junction of Olivia Terrace & Edmore Place.
See you there...
Adam
