Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
If you did that, then the camera won't be able to do a direct side by side video. Unless you split the screen with two cameras which wouldn't be as cool.
I think this redbull drag race is dope.

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
dude, no matter how you slice it the person on the inside corner has a shorter distance and would take the lead in comparison. its a matter of distance. so he would come out of the first corner in the lead!!!!
so if i was shooting a video of something like this it would not be side by side like i was talking about.. the point was that you can see them side by side.. not one slightly in front of the other every other turn... thats the point!!! i know you wont get that so im not gonna waste anymore space trying to explain why this video was cool to see the side by side........
how come bombertodd gets it and you dont????

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
There is no inside line, since they are separated by a barrier!!! The 2 riders could be doing the exact same racing line, at the same time, in their own lanes!!!ejack wrote:dude, no matter how you slice it the person on the inside corner has a shorter distance and would take the lead in comparison. its a matter of distance. so he would come out of the first corner in the lead!!!!

And the person in the inside lane would not have an advantage, since that person would start a little further behind but would finish before the other rider (depends on the width of the lane). The distance traveled would be identical.
You can put a camera way above, and you can capture the action that way. Or you can put cameras on other side of the corners, in identical positions, and you will have 2 exact video, assuming the riders do the same thing.

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
wow....
i said i wouldnt say anymore, but i have to..
take a piece of paper and draw yourself a track. just make a straightaway and just ONE corner to another straightaway. take your little measuring tool and measure the distance from the beginning to the end on each track.. which one is longer?
is it the inside radius track or the outside radius track......

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
How about just have the same amount of Right hand and left hand corners ?
At the end the distance would equal the same
At the end the distance would equal the same

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
that is a great example... inside corner will always have the advantage.. when they pull out of the first corner the inside guy will have a lead and it will no longer be a "SIDE BY SIDE" comparison... for the love of all that is holy...........
can you see the little inside car with the lead?????????

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
This is the example I was thinking of though
Nobody has the edge in either example. The distance traveled are same!

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
regarding the figure 8 track
Almost any time on that track some one will have a shorter track. To the camera the guy winning might be ahead because his track was shorter at the given point on track.

You start at the same time and they will be side by side. And if you put the camera at the correct place (at the 45* line), they would be in exact same line.ejack wrote:that would not be "SIDE BY SIDE" now would it?

mike, one guy would start slightly in front of the other in your scenario. so how would that be side by side? its not man.. its not...

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
They are side by side if you point the camera at slightly away from 90* (depends on width of the track). And if you put another camera at the 45* bend of the corner, the 2 riders are exactly at the same spot doing the same cornering.ejack wrote:mike, one guy would start slightly in front of the other in your scenario. so how would that be side by side? its not man.. its not...

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
so now you are gonna do some camera angle trickery to try and create a side by side look..? even though one guy starts in front of the other... god damn man, pound a square peg into a round hole why dont you...

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
Dude, when you are wrong, admit it and move on. Don't get all butt hurt and make a fool of yourself. Like confusing markup vs. margin. Here's the camera angle where the 2 are side by side.ejack wrote:so now you are gonna do some camera angle trickery to try and create a side by side look..? even though one guy starts in front of the other... god damn man, pound a square peg into a round hole why dont you...

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
no ones butt hurt about anything man.. just wasting a bunch of time trying to explain to you why your idea does not put two riders side by side for the camera... but if you wanna believe that then cool...

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
Or you could just film each individually and then blend the video together. Didn't they do that with some of the WC races? Then you could see who was actually taking the better line...

Re: Half-Mile Supercross Rhythm Section - Red Bull Str
Sure they are side by side in the corner. They arrive exactly at the same time to the 45* apex, and leave together, with exactly the same speed.ejack wrote:why your idea does not put two riders side by side for the camera... but if you wanna believe that then cool...
If you put a video camera on a circular rail and have it move with the riders, you can have the same side by side action in the corner like this:
