Galbraith at Bellingham, WA and Whistler Bike Park
We stopped in Bellingham on the the way to WBP. Trail maps to the local goods are at Fanatik Bike. We rode two HAB trails, unemployment and atomic dog. Sick butter jump lines and some tech. Think a mini A-line with no braking bumps. Here is the skinny:
The most heralded and eagerly anticipated new trail on Galbraith in a long time, Unemployment Line is also the first mechanically-built trail on the mountain. It begins with a big elevated drop on the first catwalk off the road, and doesn't let up from there. And it feels like nothing else on Galbraith -- more controlled, more groomed, more safe in a weird way because even though the moves are big on Unemployment Line, the fast line is almost always open, more like California than the Shore
I would highly reccomend stopping in Bellingham for a few hours on your way to WBP.
WBP...how can you complain...the best in the world...a bit more braking bumps this year but Freight Train was in good shape, and Blue Velvet is coming along as an intermediate jump line trail. Fade to black was the new trail this year, and a XXL pro line, so needless to say I pussed out although it didn't look too bad....
Some cam footage to follow...

Re: Galbraith at Bellingham, WA and Whistler Bike Park
So how do you get to the top for Galbraith other than HAB? Is there a shuttle service? Pix or vids?
PS If HAB only, it doesn't make sense as a stop for Whistler, since most of us don't want to waste time and energy climbing or pushing up bikes all day.

Ya, no shuttle for bellingham...do a search for some vids...don't stop if you can't handle a little work for the butter...

Don't mind "a little work". It is more of a time issue. Don't want to waste hours doing a hike a bike with Whistler and other places nearby. Gravity Logic is supposed to open up a bike park near Seattle next year (or the year after?). That might be a better option.

Re: Galbraith at Bellingham, WA and Whistler Bike Park
Galbraith is supposed to be awesome... Honestly, I had my fill of Whistler after 4 days so some badass new dirt (even with a HAB) is a welcome addition to a road trip.
Unfortunately, we had a choice between the HAB Galbraith and the Shuttlable Chuckanut..... and we choose Chuckanut, which, though the views were awesome and trail fun, is not nearly as fun as Galbraith. Ohhh well, next year!!!

Exactly, on the way up to WBP this is a sick option to get a few hours riding instead of wasting the whole day in the car...we built our bikes up in the parking lot...
