Re: Garage Works --- USED and REVIEWED!
I sent my 2006 Fox 36 TALAS to Garageworks in 2009 for a rebuild, new seals & new lowers. Turn around time was pretty quick & fork's been good since. Prolly due for another rebuild now. I'd use them again unless ISO/ Drake was cheaper.
Re: Garage Works --- USED and REVIEWED!
DO IT! Need to get that shit done quick man. We're like 2 weeks out. Gotta get it back AND get some time on it before driving up.
Re: Garage Works --- USED and REVIEWED!
I've used them but only over the phone. I'll try to find the techs name.
He was really responsive and followed up with me to see what product I decided to purchase. This took place before I started utilizing Drakes service.
Adam I can always meet you downtown LA and take your shock to Drake when I go ride skids!!
I won't charge, to be a courier at least not yet!!

Re: Garage Works --- USED and REVIEWED!
Thanks Mike, but I'm good for now. I might hit up Drake or GW for a bulk deal.

I had them rebuild a 5th Element for me. The shock felt good and everything else went well.

REVIEW:
Brought the Shock in. Nice people. Steve went through a couple things with me but was pretty focused on some work he was doing. She took all my info, my weight, riding style, bike, etc... Promised a full rebuild within 6 days and gave me a price range and off I went.
5 days later I called for a status update and got a call back the next day that the shock was done and ready to pick up... Picked it up and they gave me a sheet with all my old settings, all the work they did spelled out, some recommended new settings and the current settings on the shock. So far I was pretty pleased. Work done on time, on the lower end of the estimate and complete with more info than I expected.
First ride out was Big Bear and after some playing around with the settings I got it working pretty well. No blow outs, no leaks, no real issues.
The big test will be next week in Whistler!
Overall 4/5 stars and they will get 5/5 if they things works in Whistler.

Re: Garage Works --- USED and REVIEWED!
My Vivid 5.1 is getting overhauled there now, we'll see how it goes! I was told $115-145 for the complete overhaul and $12+15 for labor if I opt to change the compression tune. Cheaper than I was quoted by Drake, better communication, and they are local so they got my business. Let's hope it works out :)

Re: Garage Works --- USED and REVIEWED!
Just in case anyone is waiting for an update on the above post...
I got the shock back about 2 weeks ago and it felt really great for the first couple of rides. Soon after that though I found it leaking oil and knocking again. So off it went back to Garageworks, except this time they hooked me up with a loaner DHX air until I got the vivid back. It turns out that a few parts were broken that they missed the first time around, and they would need to hold on to it for a week or two while waiting for replacements.
Fast forward a week or so to today. I got a call from them and apparently Rockshox doesn't make those parts anymore, and SRAM hooked me up with a brand spankin' new Vivid R2C. So thats cool :D
As far as my experience with Garageworks goes it's been pretty positive. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say I got a lemon shock from the beginning. It's pretty cool of them to set me up with a loaner free of charge too, and in the end they get my recommendation.
