In need of leads/help
The pump track(s) project that chuk2rs and I have been working on in Fillmore is getting there. We have a builder, a design and approval from both the Parks Commission and the City Planner. However, we have a bit of a hick-up that's keeping us from moving forward.
We have about 130 pieces of large concrete pipe that is on site and needs to be moved about 1/4 mile to another city lot. We figure we need at least two class 7 (rough terrain) fork lifts and a trailered flatbed bed to get it done. chuk2rs has the hook-up for 1 forklift.
Does anyone know of a civic minded company that might be willing to move this pipe out of the goodness of their heart (and a tax write off) or a hook-up for a deal on rental equipment. Certainly prefer somebody with experience with concrete pipe as some of it is pretty big and it's all heavy. We'll be incorporating some of the pipe into the design so not all has to be moved.

Why don't you use the concrete pipes as the base for the rollers/ jumps? You'd need less dirt...

We are. We'll be incorporating about 30 or so pipes, but that still leaves a lot to move.

These must be monsters if you can't sledge hammer and remove via truck bed. I don't have any connection like that way up there. Good luck!
Re: In need of leads/help
The issue is that they belong to the city and the city wants to keep them for future projects or repair.

And the city won't move them...or you just don't want to ask them to?YakityYak wrote:The issue is that they belong to the city and the city wants to keep them for future projects or repair.
Re: In need of leads/help
Why can't we move the 1 at a time. We have time and a fork lift and a short drive.
The city has no money to use. We're getting the pump track because it will be millions of dollars less than the tennis courts originally planned.

Cap'n, like Jason said, It's a small town with little money and skeleton staffing. They simply can't do it for us, but they are trying to accommodate the best they can. There's excitement building as word trickles out. The city is 100% supportive.
It is possible to do with 1 fork lift, but that be a lot of wear and tear on a borrowed piece of equipment and a lot of time. It may come down to that, but we have a little time to figure it out (the ground had to be dry enough to support the weight)
