Kuat Racks
Ok not really a review just yet but pretty stoked on the Kuat Vagabond X. Several of you know I have a Chevy Avalanche and with the cover on can sometimes be limited by loading enough gear with a cab full of riders on long trips. So far its been rather useful and I plan on making some brackets for it to hold some trail tools. For now, this has been posted up on our site…. Kuat Racks IB Spotlight
Re: Kuat Racks
I hope it works better out of the box than my Kuat rack did.

Re: Kuat Racks
Which rack did you have. I had the Sherpa but then quickly went to the NV due to weight limitations of the Sherpa. Had success with both just fine. The Vagabond basket is pretty beefy. I may question the fastening system of the two halves, but have had no issues over the last 2 months… I am going to look at some other baskets from some other brands to see if there is any comparison issues. I must say it doesnt carry bikes as often as the hitch racks but does give the option for carrying alot more cargo and 2 extra bikes if needed. So far its been the BMX bike, DJ a hand full of times and once with the DH bike. Since its a simple QR system for the fork mount on the basket, I had to use a Rocky Mount 20mm adapter… so far so good. Need more time. I am gonna try and hit the Bootleg Bash (at least in the afternoon if possible since I have to work) If I make it take a look at it.
Re: Kuat Racks
I have the NV Core which is a stripped down version of the NV but still what I would consider a more expensive/premium rack.
My rack arrived damaged. I also had some quality control issues with the cable & hitch lock kit that I bought separately from Kuat, which reminds me all of the bolts on the rack and kit are low quality. I've recently had some issues with a stabilizing bolt that kept coming loose and the rack wobbling everywhere. I eventually just Locktightend it, not something they endorsed but it took care of the problem. Overall, I would say their stuff is beautiful and designed well, they just skimmed here and there and unfortunately took what could have been a phenomenal product and made it so so.
