Giro Remedy

Giro Remedy
Well I got myself a Giro Remedy CF a few months ago. I wanted a full face for the down hill but also for the long rides. I have had tons of dental work done so riding without a full face is out of the question. Well let me tell you it vents great. It kept me from over heating on the long climbs.
Well fist time out face plant. Not once but twice. Scuffed up the area around the vents and cracked my visor. So much for keeping it clean. Well this past Friday I carried to much speed through a turn up at TW. End result was my head on a rock. Good thig is I'm good. I road off the hill no black outs or anything. The bad is I left a lot of paint on the trail.
Well Sunday I really wanted to ride Noble with Adolfo(motomonster85), his Brother and Lee(biskit83). So I went out on my busted helmet. Yep dumb! After geting home I started looking at the helmet some more and noticed that the foam was loose. Helmet was trashed so I pulled it out. The foam has a good size dent in it and the composite was cracked on the shell.
Things I noted while taking it apart. It only has one (1) layer of Carbon. The rest of the shell is fiberglass. It also has more layers of fiberglass in the back than it does in the front. Not sure why. I kind of figured it would be the same all around.
So I figured it saved my life and kept me cool doing it. However I don't think I will be droping the extra cash on the Carbon. I just don't belive one layer of Carbon adds that much strength and after talking Giro they say the Carbon is only there to save wieght not make it any stronger. A whopping 65g ouch don't hurt my neck.
To end this does anyone have a hook-up for a new large Remedy?
The bright white is broken fiberglass. If you look close you can see cracks in the foam too.

Re: Giro Remedy
It seems you really love your Giro, but have you thought about trying a different helmet? Good review, you should post some before pictures of it if you have them.
Re: Giro Remedy
sorry dont have any pics of it before it took a few hits. What else do you think vents as well. Like I said I use this for everything. I just had a bone graph two weeks ago and a dental implant a month ago.

Re: Giro Remedy
I use a Rockgardn. I have a review of it on here. I also used to use a 661 that I still have in the garage. You can get a new Rockgardn from Jenson I think for 100.

Re: Giro Remedy
Well I would be happy to try one out if there was some place that I could try it on. I have a huge grape. Kind of a oval shape so I get hot spots on my forehead with most helmets. I know that the bell Drop fits good and the Giro's are great. I'm not sure on the 661's. Bike Bling never has an XL or I feel like I'm asking a lot of them to pull something off the shelf.

Re: Giro Remedy
Yeah Troy Lee are great but I just can't see paying that much for something that isn't DOT. What am I paying for? Name? Graphics?

Re: Giro Remedy
My buddy Matt has a huge head like you, and he has a Giro Remedy non CF. If you like the Giro stick with it. As far as feeling like you're asking too much of a guy in the shop, ask away. Nine times out of ten that guy at Bike Bling is sitting around playing grab-ass or not doing shit. Especially if his name is Bo (who is a shit talker about GP btw). Make em earn their pay, everyone else has to.

Troy Lee CF D3, $225. Go to Bike Bling, find your size, and see if you like it. Wait, thats a medium, I bet they have XL though.

Re: Giro Remedy
Also look into Kali. They make some of the lightest most comfortable helmets on the market. The new avatar 2 is sub 850 grams

Re: Giro Remedy
Found out that I can order a new Remedy from REI and get 30% off. Giro also offers a crash trade in deal that is 30% off. I might even be able to work out free shipping with them and since they aren't in CA it will be tax free.
Anyone know of a better deal?

Re: Giro Remedy
Do the deal with Giro if the cost still ends up being the same. Maybe then they will analyze your helmet and use it to improve the next batch.
Re: Giro Remedy
I don't know if they take the helmet back. I think they just want a few items off of it.
