Square
Just another method of payment, quicker & easier than Pay Pal. Pay & receive funds in a day using debit & credit cards. Link it to your bank account. Seems to work great. Free app for smartphone with free swiper delivered in a few days after registration.

2.75% per swipe, 3.5% + $0.15 for manual entered card transactions. Beats PayPal's 10% all fucking day!

Re: Square
My mistake it's about the same, it's Ebay fees that are 10%. It will be nice to have the money immediately though.

Re: Square
Someone needs to explain the improvement over paypal. Not really seeing it. Fee is about the same. I can send and receive instantly via paypal with my phone...no equipment necessary. Not really excited bout this unless there's more I'm not seeing.

Re: Square
Hmm, this doesn't sound different than the POS systems that have been around for decades. Even back in the 90's I was swiping customer cards with my remote POS machine. Discount rate is the same as usual too. How is this new? Paypal is much more high tech than a new gadget doing the same old thing. And I don't know about u....but when someone uses their cc to pay me through paypal, its always instantly cash. I love new tech! But isnt this just old tech?
Re: Square
How is it instantly cash? Doesn't it go into the PP account and can only be drawn as cash once it's transferred to a bank account?
With the square I will now have a remote POS machine.

Re: Square
It's just another option. I have Pay Pal too & have used both Pay Pal & Square. Both work, both have minimal fees, bother transfer funds quickly & offer protection for both users.
I have Square linked to my bank account & they can transfer money on a daily basis.
I also have 2 Pay Pal accounts, one in the US & one in the UK.
It's good to have optioins, that's all.

Re: Square
Paypal IS a bank account. Just like any account, I have my paypal mastercard/debit card. If someone pays me, I instantly have cash. I can go to any atm and withdraw it...taste it...smell it...roll around in it...tip ugly strippers, all the things that make it real cash.throttlepimp wrote:How is it instantly cash?
Re: Square
It's Hip To Be Square: Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Ahhh right, the PayPal card...
It's fun not to tip the pretty ones, really fans the flames of their insecurities.

Re: Square
Do your research before your get one. Forgot where I read but people had issues with money being overdrawn, missing funds, double transactions, so beware before you try. Like I said can't remember where I found that review so my post is kinda useless. Just do your research

Re: Square
Can you get an extender cable so you don't have to direct connect the Square into your headphone jack. Looks like too much swiping would fuck up the jack hole.

Of course....I always used a mobile POS for business too. It's not like Walmart can ditch all their POS systems and tell people to paypal them. Business always has to be able to swipe cards. I'm gonna grab square up to use for our shirts and junk during get togethers.

And we wouldn't want to fuck up the jackhole with too much swiping now would we?

Re: Square
Paypal simply has no competition. Although not perfect, nobody else does what they do. I'm pretty happy with it. Most complaints are from sellers...and that's because they lean toward protecting buyers. Understandable business model.
