I could ride that fast if I had his bike. And his skills....the talent....and those tires.

I rode Crestline before I ever saw the video and when I actually recognized the trail I felt like I rode crestline on an XC bike with training wheels.

How long will the ride/shuttle take? I have another couple of friends that are hitting Big Bear that day too. Would it be possible to do both in a day?? Or is that just crazy talk?

Meet at the Chevron but do not park there as you will be cited and towed. Park directly across from Chevron on the street so that we can condense down to 2 shuttle vehicles because there is little to no parking up there. Aside from gas cash we all need to chip in to purchase adventure passes ($15 each) for the shuttles if they are going to be parked for any amount of time during the ride to avoid being cited. The exact location of the trails are hard to find on google maps because of the cover so I can't really map them out, but rest assured I know where they are :D As for the shuttle, it doesn't get any better than this for DH in Socal. The shuttle road is 100% paved mountain road and takes about 8-15 minutes to get to the top depending on if you get stuck behind a slow vehicle. The trails are drop and ride...well one has a 1 minute push up a small hill. The trails converge at a central point and both end at the same shuttle pickup point so this is a trail for you lazy asses.
Please remember that this is an illegal trail in national forest so be on the lookout for rangers. Also, I advise you to bring a lunch because the closest place to eat is Crestline and it is crazy expensive there. Mike and I paid $23 for a medium peperoni pizza the first time we went, now we know better.
I just made up a quick map so you guys can get an idea of the area. Note: There is an additional 35 minute drive to the bottom of the trail from the meet up point at Chevron, it is one lane each side and getting stuck behind a truck towing a boat sucks so getting fully geared up at Chevron isn't advised as it will make the drive up the mountain cramped and uncomfortable.

Re: Crestline 10/16
I definitely want to hit this trail because it's a new-to-me trail... but the reason for trying to fit Big Bear in is that there are a couple girls rolling. I don't get the opportunity to ride with DH girls very often (if at all).
I will be joining in on this ride for sure though and will make the decision about Big Bear same day.
I have an adventure pass. I have an Xterra with a 4-bike rack, so I can take 3 additional people/bikes with me. It's not as convenient a shuttle vehicle as a truck, but it can carry multiple bikes/people. If that's not needed, let me know so I don't drive around with the extension on (I was rear-ended by an SUV soccer mom).
Of course, since I'm thinking of heading over to Big Bear, I won't be able to carpool with anyone from SD... unless you guys want to hit up Big Bear too.

Any of u SD guys have the ability to carry 5+ bikes/riders? Kitty will roll up in her ride since she may leave. But we still need to condense before heading up the shuttle. So.....5+ bike/riders capacity?
