Shimano Zee hubs - thumbs down

Post by Mint Sauce on Sun Jun 01, 2014 5:52 pm

While I'm a fan of the Zee groupset in general (brakes/ drive train) the hubs are kinda shitty. In the past 6 weeks I've managed to destroy a 20mm front and 142mm rear on an Enduro bike riding a mixture of XC/ DH/ FR and Enduro races in the PNW. First the front wheel stopped spinning very well due to a pitted cone (warrantied it) and now the rear free hub body is cracked/ chipped after a day riding DH/ AM trails. Gonna warranty the rear hub, but I'm not hopeful as to the longevity of either after they are fixed.

Front pitted cone:

Damnit. Just built a flow ex wheelset using those hubs. Oh well, one has to actually ride to break stuff so mine probably wont break lol

shimano's warranty dept is on point, and if you break it twice they will usually upgrade you
