Post by ejack on Wed Nov 03, 2010 1:21 pm

it was my life.. from 15 years old to 32.. had to quit because of serious tendon injuries that wouldnt go away..
now i just have downhilling and snowboarding...

but five ten was started as a climbing shoe company.. they didt make anything but climbing shoes for a long time.. its good to see they have broadened the scope of what they do... i really dig a lot of the new shoes they make...
if i just had more feet!

Re: Five Ten Shoes

Post by chuk2rs on Wed Dec 01, 2010 4:18 pm

I just got my first pair of 5/10's in the mail today. Freeride ($35 from huck n Roll) I ride flats regularly, but have been a hold out, because I thought they were too expensive. Anyhow, first I must say thanks to Huck and Roll for free shipping and 3 free tools. I had to get a size 11 witch is about a full size too big, due to limited stock, but they seem fit OK. For the price, I expected the 1st generation with the 2 piece sole that I heard had problems with de-laminating. But I got the updated 1 piece sole. Shoes are not the most comfortable, but tolerable.
My eyes really opened when I put my feet on the pedals. Stealth rubber really makes a huge difference. The soles have just the right amount of stiffness. The grip is amazing, to the point where I can see having my foot in the wrong position for an entire race.
I have been keeping a tally over the past 2 years of racing. SPD vs. flats. So far my results have been much better running flats so I was considering running flats all the time. These may be the key. I can't wait to give them a propper flogging.

Holy crap these shoes rock. I picked up a pair at the 5.10 outlet here in redlands. Sam Hill for 69 bones. They are amazing even with the old ass pedals I have they still stuck pretty good. Once I put the new ones on its a world of difference.

Welcome to the club Seth.. You will never use another shoe again... And I highly suggest getting some good pedals with screw in pins. It's like being clipped in!

The outlet is a great score if they have your size and style in stock.. I use to hit that place up every few months when I lived in Redlands....

Oh I did. I got some premium products pedals with removable pins. Its amazing. Its gonna take a while to get it in my head that my feet wont slip off. But I think it will help. That outlet is amazing. They werent even open today but they had somebode in the store fixing it up so they helped me anyway. SUPER nice people and im very impressed with the shoes.
